We have already given you our top 10 tips for mentally preparing yourself to pass a postal battery test. In this post, we now tackle the ways by which you can physically prepare yourself to ace the Postal Service exam that stands between you and your postal career. Ready? Here’s our top 10 list on how you can prepare physically for any grueling postal test:

  • Exercise. Nothing works up the mind and wakes up the body more effectively than a good workout. Even a 30-minute brisk walk or light jog around your neighborhood before hitting the books is enough to get you in the study zone.
  • Eat nutritious food. If your diet has always been composed of fast food fare and sugary concoctions, now would be a good time to incorporate healthier foods into your menu. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and fish will not only keep your weight down but will be fuel for your mind as well.
  • Check out the testing site before the day of the test. This is important so that you don’t risk being late on testing dayproctors will not likely allow you in. Check the site using the means of transportation that you will use on testing day. If you’re commuting, be sure to check out the bus schedules beforehand as well.
  • Make sure that you know what to bring on testing day. The USPS will send you information about the things that you will need to bring to get admitted to the supervised testing center (e.g. IDs, registration cards, among others).
  • Get a good night’s sleep. Ideally, you should clock in 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night so you feel refreshed the next morning. This is especially important on the night before the test.
  • Relax but don’t party on the night before the test. This is a recipe for disaster. You want to rest and relax your mind but you don’t want to get drunk either. You can do the partying after your postal exam is over.
  • Wear comfortable clothing on the day of the test. Naturally, you should dress appropriately based on the weather. However, be prepared for a cold or hot testing room so wearing layers helps.
  • If you need special accommodation, request for it in writing or by calling the USPS. Do this long before your scheduled exam date since the Postal Service authorities will still study your request for accommodation and determine if they can provide it.
  • Go with your gut feel. When answering questions, stick with your first answer as this is usually the correct one. This is your primal instinct so honor it.
  • Celebrate after the test. Don’t be too hard on yourself. After all the physical and mental preparations, you deserve a pat on the back just by finishing the postal battery exam. Have fun!
